NEGATIVE WATERPROOFING IN CONCRETE CURTAINS

The simple rigid buffers characteristic of negative waterproofing do not consist of solutions, but rather of palliatives: water, via capillaries and / or micro-cracks of the structure, seeks new paths. And not only that: the concrete reinforcement is at the mercy of oxidation, which will inevitably compromise structural stability over time.

Conventional procedures for exposing the external face of a curtain via a debris drain for corrections and subsequent landfills are generally very expensive and traumatic, especially in the case of buildings already inhabited. And when the original waterproofing was performed on flexible membranes of any nature, the adhesion of a new membrane to the old one is always deficient, a fact that, in most cases, requires a general re-waterproofing of the curtain.

In recent years, many chemical industries around the world have been researching consistent solutions to the issue. The path adopted has been the obstruction of the capillaries of the concrete, in the opposite direction to the flow of the water, by osmosis. And it works: some more and some less. In the vast majority of cases, the procedures mentioned in the previous paragraph are eliminated.
