Natural Ventilation by Pressure Difference
It is the principle used when ventilation is non-existent or insufficient. Air, like any gas when heated, maintains its mass and increases its volume, making it less dense.
If properly dimensioned, ventilation does not require the use of any mechanical or electromechanical equipment, and more: for equal volumes and requirements, the greater the height difference between the external air inlet and its outlet, the smaller the ventilation openings.
This process of taking and exhausting air from previously calculated openings is popularly known as chimney effect, in which hot air tends to seek higher regions and cold air lower, generating natural convection by pressure difference.
In the event of the combination of natural ventilation of an environment with its acoustic insulation, noise attenuators must be installed in the required inlet and outlet openings.
